IITTALA has always been a brand with a clear idea of its future, and consequently, the new identity is a reflection of this ever-evolving essence and a chant for its rich history.

Throughout its 140-year story, the brand has embraced numerous emblems and multiple logos that have changed over time to reflect the spirit of different eras and production focuses. Needless to say, it was a dream come true to be asked to recreate the wordmark to replace the geometric sans, originally designed for ‘i-glass’ by Timo Sarpaneva in 1956.

Over time, the logo has undergone multiple renewals and modernizations, and now – quoting the client – a new era begins…

As part of the rebranding of IITTALA - I was commissioned to direct a new font family for the brand. From my original design of the new IITTALA-logotype, a new font family was crafted by the great Göran Söderström from Letters From Sweden. The flared sans typeface, named Aino, draws inspiration from historical IITTALA typefaces, particularly from the 1892 factory signage.

Official logotype and a custom font; Abel Roman for the sixth studio album "After Hours" by The Weeknd. The main title was followed by three video titles (all directed by Anton Tammi) with a bespoke design and type treatment created to correspond to each video's æsthetic.

4 x Custom title designs for the Adidas Originals product launch campaign. The designs were published as a part of OMNI magazine ZXience special reprint.
